My Muse

"The muse is not an angelic voice that sits on your shoulder and sings sweetly. The muse is the most annoying whine. The muse isn't hard to find, just hard to like - she follows you everywhere, tapping you on the shoulder, demanding that you stop doing whatever else you might be doing and pay attention to her." -  Harlan Coben

I write to shut her up. It's the only way she'll leave me alone.

What does your muse say?

  1. My muse doesn't say much. But she gives me a sense of elation, an urgency, to get the words out on the page and lose myself in an imaginary world.

    1. That's why I put up with mine. Those moments are worth keeping her.

  2. My muse likes to talk to me when I can't write, like when I'm driving or on the ski lift. In front of the keyboard, she clams up.

  4. My muse has been quite helpful lately - I've written 43K since the end of November, which is pretty good for me!
